PROPOSED tournament dates for 2015

Here are 10 proposed tournament dates and locations for Bobcats 12u baseball this spring.

I would like for our boys to play in about 7 or 8 of them, concentrating on tournaments in March and April. By playing most of our tournaments early, we will be virtually finished with Bobcats by the time rec league starts.

There are three tournaments in May and June in nearby Benton and Hopkinsville. I would like for us to play in those even though most of the boys will playing rec league at that time. My concerns about playing too much after rec league starts is the burden it would put on our pitcher's arms. I want to be very cautious in that regard.

We can always add more tournaments later in summer, but I assume we will be doing rec all stars in July and August.

Please let me know ASAP if there are any tournament dates among these proposed weekends that create major conflicts. Again, we will not play all of these dates, but will select 7 or 8.

I want to set our schedule very soon so we can all make plans for the spring.

We will have only 10 players so it is imperative that we all be committed to the dates once the schedule is set.

School's Spring Break is March 30-April 3. So if you have plans for spring break that does not include baseball, please advise ASAP.

There is an outside chance that we might be able to work in some games over spring break. Maybe even a bit further down South in some warmer weather. I will discuss that later.

You will see that March 13-15 and April 11-12 have two options. The March options are Jackson or Owensboro. We can drive back and forth to Owensboro, but we would have to stay overnight in Jackson. In April, both tournaments are close, but at least we have an option.

I will continue looking for tournaments closer to home in March, but right now these are our only options within a 200 mile radius.

THANKS AND I LOOK FORWARD THE SEASON

Remember, too, that the batting cage on East Carlisle Street is open and all 12u Bobcats may use the facility for FREE! It was largely designed and opened for our team. Please use it. I will be there much of the day on most Saturdays. Otherwise, a key is in the mailbox next to the front door. The light switch is all the way in the back of the building next to the back door.

Fundraising Activity

Great job parents – especially moms!

Our fundraising this fall and winter has netted roughly $2,500. That will come fairly close to paying all of our tournament fees this spring.

We have had some other contributions to the team which has enabled us to pay for registration at the Rawlings Wooden Bat Tournament in DuQuoin, Ill., buy our team insurance and pay all of our 2015 registration fees with BPA and USSSA.... without cutting into our other funds.

The Rawlings Wooden Bat Tournament cost $450. That's expensive, but we get 5 wooden bats with our registration fee. That will be our first tournament on Jan. 30, 31 and Feb. 1. INDOORS!

Our team balance after paying all our 2015 fees and registration for the wooden bat tournament is $2,586. Based on that, I think we can idle our fundraising activities until we see if further funds are needed.

AWESOME JOB ON RAISING THE MONEY TO KICKSTART THE SEASON!
Thanks again to all the parents and players (Moms! especially).
